Peekaboo PRO is a non-invasive blood test that analyzes cell-free fetal DNA naturally circulating in your bloodstream during pregnancy. By looking for the presence of a Y chromosome, the test determines whether your baby is a boy or a girl.
At six weeks, fetal DNA is concentrated enough for accurate detection. Earlier than that, results aren't reliable. Later is fine - but most women want to know as soon as it's possible to know.

You'll be greeted by our all-female clinical team. The draw itself takes about five minutes. We use the same standard collection technique as any routine lab visit, performed in a controlled environment to minimize contamination risk.

Your sample is processed by DNA Diagnostics Center (DDC) - a CLIA-certified, AABB-accredited lab that has been performing genetic testing since 1995. Peekaboo's molecular test then analyzes for the Y chromosome.

How early in pregnancy can the test be performed?
From six weeks of gestation. That's the earliest point at which fetal DNA is reliably detectable in your bloodstream. Testing earlier than six weeks isn't recommended because there isn't enough fetal DNA in circulation yet for an accurate result.

How accurate is the Peekaboo PRO test?
Greater than 99% accurate when performed at six weeks or later, based on Peekaboo's published clinical data. The PRO version - performed in-office by trained staff - has the additional advantage of reduced contamination risk compared to at-home collection, which is the most common cause of inaccurate results.
Do I need to be fasting before the test?
No. Eat and drink normally before your appointment. Food doesn't affect the accuracy of the test.
When will I get my results?
Once the lab receives your sample, results are typically available the same day or within one business day. You'll receive them by secure message so you can save them, share them, or plan a reveal however you'd like.
Can the test determine the gender of twins?
The Peekaboo test detects whether a Y chromosome is present in your bloodstream. In a twin pregnancy, that means the test can tell you if at least one of the babies is a boy - but it can't tell you the gender of each baby individually. For multiples, ultrasound remains the most reliable option.
What happens during the appointment?
You'll be greeted by our all-female clinical team. After a brief check-in to confirm gestational age, we'll perform a routine blood draw - the same kind you'd have at any standard lab visit. The whole appointment usually takes around twenty minutes.
Is this a medical or diagnostic test?
No. The Peekaboo PRO test is for fetal sex determination only. It is not a diagnostic test, does not screen for genetic conditions, and is not a substitute for prenatal care or any medically indicated testing. It is intended for personal knowledge and family planning purposes.
