Understanding Thermography
A look at how thermal imaging fits into proactive wellness.
Thermography is a non-invasive imaging technology that captures heat patterns and physiological information about the body's tissues, circulation, and lymphatic flow. It uses no radiation, no compression, and no contact, and the imaging itself takes only minutes.
What thermography shows are thermal patterns — areas of warmth, coolness, and asymmetry that may reflect inflammation, circulatory variation, or lymphatic congestion. These patterns offer physiological information that may be useful as one piece of a broader wellness picture.
What thermography is not: a diagnostic tool. It does not detect, identify, or rule out specific conditions, and it is not a substitute for any other clinical examination or imaging study.

Florida Medical Thermography is a Florida-based clinical thermography practice with more than 45 host locations across the state. Their thermographers are certified through the International Association of Medical Thermologists (IAMT), the credentialing body that sets clinical training requirements and imaging standards for the field of medical thermography.
Once imaging is complete, every study is submitted to Physician's Insight — an independent national physician interpretation service for medical thermography — for review by an interpreting physician. This separation of imaging and interpretation is a foundational quality standard in clinical thermography, and it is the structure we wanted in any thermography partner before bringing the service to our patients.

Each visit day, certified clinical thermographers from Florida Medical Thermography are on site at our Brandon office. Sessions are scheduled, paid for, and confirmed directly through Florida Medical Thermography.
Studies Available
Florida Medical Thermography offers six imaging studies, each capturing thermal patterns from different regions of the body.
Breast Study
Thermal imaging from the neck through the area below the breasts, including front, side, individual breast, axillary, and back views. Captures thermal patterns in the breast and surrounding tissue.
Breast & Chest Study
Includes the full Breast Study with additional chest imaging. Provides thermal information about the breast tissue along with the heart and lung region.
Women's & Men's Health Study
A comprehensive scan of the head, neck, chest, back, and abdomen. Identifies thermal patterns across multiple body systems, including dental and sinus areas, thyroid region, carotid area, and abdominal organs.
Full Body Study
Includes all areas in the Health Study plus arms, hands, legs, and feet. Useful for evaluating circulation patterns and thermal information across the full body.
Two Regions of Interest
A focused study of any two body regions of your choosing. Florida Medical Thermography recommends a brief consultation with the thermographer to determine the most appropriate regions for your goals.
Dental Study
Focused on thermal patterns associated with dental and sinus areas, as well as related inflammation patterns that may extend to surrounding regions of the body.

Why We Brought Thermography to LIV
Functional medicine, at its best, takes a layered view of how the body is actually functioning. Lab work tells us about biochemistry. Clinical evaluation tells us about symptoms and history. Imaging studies, when used appropriately, can add another layer — physiological information that is harder to see in numbers alone.
Thermography is one of those layers. It captures thermal patterns that may reflect inflammation, lymphatic flow, and circulatory variation, and we have found it to be a useful adjunct in the broader picture we build for patients who want to be proactive with their health.
