01  ·  What It Is

A cleaner way to screen.

The Fresh Test is an organic, additive-free glucose tolerance drink for diabetes and gestational diabetes screening. It arrives as a sealed powder packet that's mixed with cold water at your OB's office to make the drink. The packet contains the exact glucose dose your OB needs - 50, 75, or 100 grams - in a base of organic glucose, real lemon, and peppermint leaf.

That's the whole list. No artificial dye. No high-fructose corn syrup. No preservatives. No BPA. The result is a clean, recognizable beverage that 99% of patients in clinical surveys say they actually like - which matters, because the test only works if you can finish the drink.

  • Validated. Manufactured to FDA standards as a Class II Medical Device, regulation 862.1345.
  • Equivalent. Provides the exact glucose dosage of standard glucose load tests.
  • Bring-your-own. Many patients buy directly and bring it to their OB visit. Reach out and we'll help you decide which strength your provider needs.

Same test. Very different ingredients.

Both products deliver the same glucose dose for the same screening - but what surrounds that dose is dramatically different. This is why patients (and their stomachs) notice the swap.

03  ·  Which Strength

Three strengths, one for each protocol.

Most patients aren't sure which test their OB will order, and that's normal. Here's how the three strengths line up with the standard gestational diabetes screening protocols.

One-Step Test
75g
Two-Hour OGTT
Fasting · 3 draws

A single, longer test used as either initial screening or diagnostic confirmation, depending on your OB's protocol. Fasting required. Three blood draws over two hours.

Confirmatory Test
100g
Three-Hour OGTT
Fasting · 4 draws

The diagnostic test ordered when the one-hour screen is positive. Fasting required. Four blood draws over three hours.

Not sure which one your OB will order? Reach out before purchasing - we'll help confirm based on your provider's protocol.

04  ·  How It Works

From order to office.

The Fresh Test fits into the screening process you'll already do at your OB. Here's exactly how it flows.

1 Step One · Online or In-Person

Confirm the strength with your OB.

Most providers will order the 50-gram screen first. If you're already past that step or have a confirmatory test ahead, ask which strength you'll need (50, 75, or 100 grams). If you're not sure, message us before ordering.

2 Step Two · Order from LIV

Pick up or have us ship it.

Stop in to grab your packet, or we'll mail it to you. Each packet is shelf-stable, sealed, and includes mixing instructions on the label.

3 Step Three · The Day of Your Test

Bring it to your OB visit.

Most OB offices accept patient-supplied glucose beverages as long as the dosing matches the order and the product is FDA-registered (it is). Confirm with the front desk before your visit so they're expecting it.

4 Step Four · The Test Itself

Standard screening, cleaner drink.

At your OB's office, the powder is mixed with cold water and consumed under the same protocol as a standard test. Your blood draws happen on the same schedule. The only thing that changes is what you swallowed.

A Note From Dr. Tracy

A small swap that pays off.

Most patients don't know they have a choice in what they drink for their glucose screening. They're just told to come in, drink it, wait, and get poked.

For years I watched women dread that visit - some of them throwing it back up, some of them reacting to the dye, almost all of them describing the taste as something close to medicine-grade syrup. None of that is necessary. The Fresh Test exists because someone finally said the same thing I'd been thinking: if the dose is what matters, why is everything else in the drink?

We stock it at LIV for patients who want a cleaner option - whether you're our patient or simply someone whose OB doesn't carry it yet. It's a small swap. But for an experience you'll likely remember, it's a worthwhile one.

06  ·  Common Questions

Questions, answered.

Is The Fresh Test as accurate as standard Glucola?

Yes. The Fresh Test delivers the exact glucose dosage required for standard screening protocols and is manufactured to FDA standards as a Class II Medical Device (regulation 862.1345). It is clinically validated as equivalent to standard glucose load tests for the same screening purpose.

Will my OB accept The Fresh Test?

Most do, but always confirm before your visit. Many OB offices throughout the United States now accept patient-supplied Fresh Test packets because the product is FDA-registered, contains the exact validated dosage, and is increasingly familiar.

Call your OB's front desk and ask. If they have questions, we can email them the documentation directly.

Which strength do I need?

Your OB will order one of three: a 50-gram one-hour screen (the most common initial test), a 75-gram two-hour OGTT, or a 100-gram three-hour OGTT (typically used for diagnostic confirmation). If you're not sure, ask your OB or message us before ordering.

Is it ACOG-approved?

The Fresh Test is manufactured to the same diagnostic Class II Medical Device standards used by traditional glucose load tests, with equivalent dosing and validated by the same FDA registration framework. ACOG itself does not endorse specific products, but The Fresh Test follows the diagnostic standards ACOG recommends for gestational diabetes screening.

What's actually in it?

Three ingredients: organic glucose (the dose), organic crystallized lemon, and organic peppermint leaf. No artificial dye, no high-fructose corn syrup, no preservatives, no artificial flavor.

Do I need to fast?

It depends on which test your OB orders. The 50-gram screen is non-fasting. The 75-gram OGTT and 100-gram OGTT are fasting tests. Confirm with your provider.

Is it covered by insurance?

Self-pay only. The Fresh Test is FSA and HSA eligible, and we can provide a superbill on request that you may submit to your insurance for partial reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan.

How quickly can I get it?

If you're nearby, you can pick up the same day in most cases. We can also ship to anywhere in the United States. Shelf life is 24 to 30 months from manufacture, so there's no rush to use it once you have it.
